The EU-SATURN programme is a higher education mobility programme for students, researchers, academics and administrative staff from South Africa. The programme is aimed at those who wish to obtain qualifications and/or experience in the European Union and to promote institutional co-operation between South African universities and European partners. The EU-SATURN programme is coordinated by the University of Groningen in the Netherlands in co-coordination with the University of the Free State in South Africa.

The University of Groningen is the consortium leader and the European partners have ample experience in leading large international projects. The South African universities are all public universities from many different parts of the country. They have been chosen on the basis of their history, diversity and location so as to provide the programme with broad coverage of the South African higher education system.
