The current call for applications is open until the 7 June 2015.  If selected, candidates may choose to do their staff exchange any time between August 2015 and July 2016.

Duration

All staff exchanges have a duration of 1 month.

Scholarship

Candidates will receive a €2500 scholarship for this month.

Am I eligible?

Yes, if you have the South African nationality and are employed at one of the following universities:  

Stellenbosch University
Tshwane University of Technology
University of Cape Town
University of Fort Hare
University of Johannesburg
University of Limpopo
University of the Western Cape
University of the Witwatersrand

Besides that you cannot have lived in Europe for more than 12 months over the past 5 years or have received an Erasmus Mundus Staff Scholarship before.

No, if you have lived in Europe for more than 12 months over the past 5 years and/or have received an Erasmus Mundus Staff Scholarship before.

Required documents

  • Curriculum Vitae in English (preferably Europass format);
  • Scanned color copy of Passport (bio-data page);
  • Two recommendation letters in English;
  • Scanned copy of your last degree obtained
  • Research Plan/ Plan of activities 
  • In most cases you need a pre-acceptance letter from the EU host institution. 
  • Declaration of Honour that may be downloaded here.

Optional:

  • Language Certificates (in any case use the European Self Assesment Language Grid to evaluate your level)
  • Second Letter of Motivation in case you apply to a 2nd EU host
  • Letter of Special Circumstances in case you belong to a vulnerable group

How do I apply

The application process depends on which university you would like to apply to and which position. In some cases you need to make an agreement with the relevant department/ faculty at your prefered host university prior to applying via our website application system. In other cases you may directly apply through the website. To find out more, read the next section!

Academic Staff

If you are an academic staff member and would like to do a teaching exchange, please follow these steps:

  1. Check if your field of teaching fits withhin one of the eligible academic fields
  2. See which of our European Partner Universities offers staff exchanges in this field.
  3. Prepare a research/ teaching plan.
  4. Contact the relevant department/faculty to obtain an invitation/letter of pre-acceptance.
  5. Make an account on the website (This works the same way for staff members as for students)
  6. Fill out the application form (upload the research/teaching plan and the letter of invitation with the other documents on the last page of th form).

Administrative Staff

Administrative staff members do not always need a letter of preacceptance, sometimes they may directly apply through the EU-SATURN website application system.

University of Uppsala, Sweden (does not require a letter of pre-acceptance)

Wroclaw University of Technology (does require a letter of pre-acceptance)

Staff Exchange- Language Center (Other administrative staff mobility need to be individually arranged with the relevant department. For more information contact: Dorota FiaƂkiewicz) .

University of Groningen (does require a letter of pre-acceptance)

University of Valencia
